Adam Bartlett – Music, Liturgy, and the Church’s Journey from Source to Summit
Join Benedictine College for a lecture by composer and entrepreneur, Adam Bartlett. Mr. Bartlett is the founder and CEO of Source & Summit, a company which provides both print and electronic resources to parishes to elevate their liturgy through the art of Sacred Music. His lecture will be on March 30 at 7:00pm in the McAllister Boardroom, on the Fourth Floor of Ferrell Academic Center. If you’re unable to join in person, you can watch the lecture on our YouTube channel.
The Church exalts sacred music as being greater than any other art since it forms a necessary or integral part of the solemn liturgy. What is meant to be an essential element of the sacrament of unity has often become instead a source of division, confusion, and contention in our times—to the detriment of the glory of God, the sanctification of the Church, and the evangelization of the world. This talk will explore how the music of the liturgy is set apart from other kinds of music that serve different purposes within the different realms of the Church’s life, and how they all can work together to facilitate the Church’s movement from the liturgy as the source, back to the liturgy as the summit of the whole of the Church’s mission in the world.
