Benjamin Lewis – Sub Tectum Meum: The Question of Beauty in Liturgical Translation

Join us on Wednesday, March 22 at 7:30 pm in McAllister Board Room for a presentation by Dr. Benjamin Lewis, Director of Translation Services for the International Commission on English in the Liturgy. Dr. Lewis will discuss some of the difficulties of translation, especially how to ensure that the translation is beautiful in its own right without diverging from the literal meaning of the text. Dr. Lewis will also elucidate the role of the International Commission on English in the Liturgy, whose purpose is to prepare English translations of each Catholic Latin liturgical book and any individual liturgical texts in accord with the directives of the Holy See.
