Philip Nielsen Lecture, “No Architecture Without the Liberal Arts”

Classically trained architect Philip Nielsen presents his work and philosophy to Benedictine College to reinforce the primary role of a liberal arts education in the formation of an architect (and client!) on Friday, October 10, at 4:00 p.m. in the McAllister Board Room, located on the fourth floor of Ferrell Academic Center. He focuses on designing enduring spaces that serve human needs, especially in sacred, educational, and healthcare settings. From watercolor renderings to construction oversight, he brings a rare blend of handcraft, clarity, and client-oriented leadership to every project. He believes that architecture should support the human person, enrich daily life, and endure across generations.

Following the lecture, there will be a reception at 5:30 p.m. in McCarthy Gallery in Bishop Fink Hall during the Architecture Student Fall Showcase. Light refreshments will be served.
