Soul to Body: The History of a Metaphor in Catholic Social Teaching | Scott Roniger
In collaboration with Social Justice Week, the Center for Constitutional Liberty presents “Soul to Body: The History of a Metaphor in Catholic Social Teaching,” a lecture by Scott Roniger on Monday, February 24 at 4:00 pm in the Murphy-McPhee Auditorium on the ground floor of Westerman Hall. Roniger is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Loyola Marymount University, Director of the Lonergan Center for Catholic Faith and Culture, and Fr. Robert H. Taylor, SJ Chair in Philosophy.
Join us to learn about the historical development of the soul-to-body metaphor in Catholic political thought, exploring its use from the ancient Church to Popes Leo XIII, Pius XI, Pius XII, John Paul II, and Benedict XVI, while examining the philosophical underpinnings of evolving views on the relationship between the Church and the state.
